Joy currently works with Johnson Matthey, a FTSE100 company as lead UK HR Manager with one of its business sectors. She provides HR leadership to a team of HR Business Partners and HR Advisors enabling the business to achieve its goal through strategic and value-driven HR initiatives. Joy is a multi-skilled HR professional having worked in both generalist and specialist HR roles. Previous roles held include Head of HR and Organisational Development, with a healthcare Company and Global HR Projects and Strategy Manager with a Renewable Energy Company. Joy is passionate about people development, especially HR professionals, and she regularly writes on LinkedIn about tips and tools that help people thrive at work.

In this module, Joy shares reasons why you could be in the position to lose your job as an individual or as part of a group. Some of the reasons include losing your job due to the company suffering a financial downtime caused by a pandemic, an employee’s role or services no longer needed in the company, etc.
Here, Joy shares what happens before the actual termination of employment, and how to go through the process after you have information about a possible job loss or redundancy within the company. This includes how to prepare for it mentally before you’re officially told.
In this module, Joy discusses what to do during the consultation process, checking that you fully understand the redundancy and all the information you need to go through the process while setting yourself up for your next role.
Joy highlights the different packages employees should get after being laid off and how they can negotiate for more. She also gives insights into how to navigate life afterwards.
In the final module, Joy shares how a job loss or redundancy can be a positive phase in every employee’s career, if properly utilised.
